Job description

Care Assistant (Bank) (0416)

No agencies please. We will be in touch with you if we need your help.

Amica Care is a charity based in the Southwest of the UK and we specialise in providing care for the elderly in our care homes. We are looking for compassionate Care Assistants to join our Bank team and support our permanent colleagues and residents, within our lovely care home by the Exmouth coast.

The role:

In this role, you will support residents with their daily routines, promoting independence, dignity, choice and wellbeing. Working as part of a caring and supportive team, you will provide person-centred care and help create positive experiences for residents every day. However, as you are a bank worker, you'll have the flexibility to pick up shifts when it suits you and to fit around your existing commitments. All we ask for is a minimum of one-shift per month, so that you stay familiar to our residents and up to date to training.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Getting to know residents as individuals and supporting them in a way that reflects their personal needs, choices and routines.
  • Helping residents with day-to-day activities while encouraging independence, dignity and wellbeing.
  • Building warm, positive relationships with residents, families, colleagues and visiting professionals.
  • Noticing the small things that matter and sharing any changes or concerns with the team so residents receive the right support.
  • Keeping clear care records and communicating well with colleagues to help provide consistent, high-quality care.
  • Working safely and thoughtfully, following guidance around safeguarding, infection prevention, confidentiality and wellbeing.
  • Being part of a friendly team and helping to create a home where residents feel comfortable, respected and cared for.

About You:

You will be caring, reliable and committed to making a positive difference to residents' lives. You will bring a kind and respectful approach, good communication skills and a willingness to learn. Previous experience in care is welcome, but what matters most is your passion for supporting people and working well as part of a team.

Why join Amica Care?

At Amica, you'll find a caring, inclusive culture where people genuinely matter. As a charity, we are values-led and focused on making a meaningful difference, while also being committed to playing our part in protecting the environment. We offer:

  • A supportive and friendly team environment
  • Opportunities for professional growth and development
  • Competitive salary and benefits package
  • The satisfaction of knowing your work makes a real difference every day
  • Cycle-to-work scheme.
  • Eyecare vouchers for VDU roles
  • Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) free, confidential support for you and your family (wellbeing, counselling, legal advice).
  • Early access wage scheme for financial flexibility.
  • Long service awards
  • A refer a friend bonus of £200.
  • A friendly, inclusive and supportive environment where your contribution truly matters.

The closing date for this vacancy is: Friday 24th July 2026.

Please note: We reserve the right to close this vacancy before the advertised date and therefore encourage early applications.
