Café Assistant
Age UK Leicester Shire & Rutland is more than just a charity; we are a lifeline to older people in our local communities. As part of our mission to support older people in their everyday lives, we provide a range of services, including the café at Clarence House, Leicester. This is a great opportunity if you are looking for a part-time role of 12 hours per week.
As a Catering Assistant, you will play an important role in the day-to-day running of our café, helping to deliver high-quality food and drinks while creating a welcoming experience for our customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation and service of food and beverages to a high standard.
- Provide a warm, friendly, and professional service to all customers.
- Operate the till and handle cash and card transactions accurately.
- Replenish food displays and ensure products are presented attractively.
- Clear tables and maintain a clean, tidy, and welcoming café environment.
- Wash dishes and clean kitchen equipment, work surfaces, and dining areas.
- Follow food hygiene, health and safety, and infection prevention procedures at all times.
- Receive, check, and store deliveries using appropriate stock rotation procedures.
- Support the catering team with the day-to-day running of the café.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure an efficient and high-quality service.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Has a positive attitude and enjoys working with people.
- Has excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Can work well as part of a team and use their own initiative.
- Can remain organised and work efficiently in a busy environment.
- Has a flexible approach and is willing to assist with a variety of catering duties.
- Understands the importance of cleanliness, food safety, and hygiene standards.
- Holds a Food Hygiene Certificate (desirable, but training can be provided).

Hours: 12 hours per week: Tuesday, Thursday & Friday 10 am – 2 pm
Salary: £12.71 per hour - £7952.85 per annum
Base: Clarence House, 46 Humberstone Gate, Leicester, LE1 3PJ
