The role
We have a fantastic opportunity for a qualified Mechanical Fitter to work with our prestigious water company . The role is based in Dumfries with travel to sites in South West Scotland; there will be very limited working away from home and only in extenuating circumstances.
Responsibilities include:
- Undertake routine maintenance of mechanical equipment in accordance with the planned maintenance schedule
- Carry out fault finding to detect and repair any mechanical faults on equipment or instrumentation
- Remove and/or install mechanical equipment
- Provide out of hours emergency cover 24/7 on a rotational basis
- Advise and/or assist other Operatives / personnel where necessary
- Carry out all work within the agreed budgetary and time limits
- Complete all necessary work records, documentation and reports
- Ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with company safety rules and health and safety legislation
- Ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with relevant quality and environmental standards
About you
The ideal candidate will be qualified to NVQ level 3 / City & Guilds or equivalent in mechanical engineering, as well as having a water hygiene certificate and City & Guilds confined space certificate. It is essential that you have previous experience of working with pumping systems, installation, maintenance and repair of industrial plant equipment and working on water and wastewater treatment plants. You will have excellent communication skills both oral and written and enjoy working in a busy and motivated environment and as part of a team.
