There may be a requirement to transport learners in your own car, insurance implications are reimbursed. Mileage and expenses are provided for travel during the working day. We are seeking an enthusiastic musician, tutor, or trainer to establish and lead a learner band. This role involves teaching learners with special educational needs how to perform, collaborate, and Page 1 develop as a group. The successful candidate will facilitate rehearsals, provide instrumental and vocal coaching, and support learners in performing at events. Main Responsibilities: Your responsibilities will include, but are not restricted to: • Lead and develop a learner band, ensuring all learners are engaged, supported, and progressing. • Deliver structured and engaging music sessions that promote teamwork, confidence, and musical ability. • Adapt teaching strategies to meet the diverse needs of learners with additional needs. • Encourage creativity, self-expression, and performance skills in a safe and inclusive environment. • Support learners in understanding stage presence, audience engagement, and performance etiquette. Identify and nurture individual talents while fostering a sense of unity and collaboration. • • Organise and oversee performances, including college events, community gigs, and showcases. • Work collaboratively with support staff and other curriculum areas to enhance cross- curricular learning. • Maintain appropriate records of learner progress and achievements. • Ensure the safeguarding and well-being of all learners in line with college policies. Person Specification The selection process will involve assessments being made on the extent to which applicants meet the criteria listed in the table below: Criteria Qualifications Essential Desirable Teaching or training qualification (e.g., PTLLS, DTLLS, PGCE, or equivalent). Page 2 Experience Skills Knowledge Personal Attributes Experience working in an educational or specialist setting. Experience in event planning and performance coordination. Knowledge of music technology, recording, and live sound engineering. Ability to play and teach a variety of instruments (e.g., guitar, drums, keyboard, bass, vocals). Experience planning and delivering engaging and structured sessions. Experience as a musician (performing, teaching, or training in a band setting). Ability to play and teach a variety of instruments (e.g., guitar, drums, keyboard, bass, vocals). Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Understanding of how to engage and support learners with additional needs. Passion for music education and empowering learners through creative expression.
