Learning Support Assistant Role Outline:
Based on site at Ofsted Outstanding RCM, Cheadle Hulme, you will work on a one-to-one basis supporting the day-to-day learning of the students within the college and providing any other support they may require through the day. The students in the college are aged between 19 and 25 years old. The role shall include
Assisting the teacher with planning and preparation of resources and programmes including differentiation for the individual needs of learners in the class/group
Actively support all students in the full range of curriculum activities across the college/school including but not limited to:
- Classroom based lessons
- Physical lessons including swimming, cycling and outdoor activities
Working with students with Autism, multi-sensory impairments, physical disabilities, severe learning difficulties and those with non-verbal communication needs, to enhance their communication skills, social skills, ability to think flexibly and to problem-solve.
Supporting students with challenging behaviour, personal care and supporting those with physical disabilities. Some students may require support from mobility aids and disability aids including hoists and wheelchairs.

As well as providing direct care and support, the Senior is required to act as a Key Worker. They will give supervision and manage performance appraisal for all Support Workers in the home and will provide mentor and coaching support on key operational tasks. - Minimum qualification QCF Level 3 Diploma in Children and Young People Workforce/Health & Social Care/Adult Care (or equivalent)

About you:
Experience is not an essential requirement for this position as we offer an initial two-week Seashell specific induction, plus ongoing training and development support. Good communication and interpersonal skills will be utilised when collaborating with families, professionals and other agencies to provide a consistent service which meets the needs of our children and young adults. Seashell is a charity dedicated to providing a creative, happy, and secure environment for children and young people with complex needs and additional communication challenges from across the UK. We have 17 purpose-built home-from-home, four bedroomed houses for children and young adults who need residential support. We provide 24-hour care, weekly and termly boarding, and 52-week placement for individuals aged 3-25 years.
About the role:
The ideal candidate for this role is likely to be an experienced support worker looking for a new challenge within a friendly, development-focused team
The new Night Support Worker will support our residential care team in our onsite Young Adult’s residential homes. You will work with shift leads/seniors and associated staff teams in promoting quality sleep for our young adults; and when awake a safe, caring, and purposeful learning environment that will assist them to achieve their fullest potential.
Requirements of the role:
- Ability to support evening and morning routines and any care or support required through the night e.g. medication administration, personal care
- Ability to commit to shift time of: 9:45pm-7:45am
- Challenging behaviours will present in these roles, so to fully support our young adults, candidates should be comfortable working in this type of environment
- Level 3 Health and Social Care (CCYP) – Level 5 Health & Social Care or equivalent (preferred but not essential)
- Good knowledge of CQC regulations and experience of implementing CQC Fundamental Quality Standards for Homes for young adults.
- Experience of working with young people with learning disabilities and complex needs.
- Experience of disability, mental health and autism spectrum conditions.
- Good written and verbal communication skills, ability to write and maintain reports and children / young people notes.
- Communicate effectively with parents/staff/other professionals.
- Flexible approach to work to work to work a day shift to meet with other operational staff.

We have two short break homes, providing respite care for children and young adults with the most complex needs. This exciting opportunity is to support within our children’s short breaks home, supporting children up to the age of 19.

- Willingness to complete the care certificate and work towards recognised relevant vocational qualification at L3 such as QCF Level 3 Diploma Children’s & Young People’s Workforce, NVQ Level 3 Health and Social Care (CCYP) Diploma or equivalent qualification
- Previous experience with medication administration is preferable
- General house keeping experience

- Knowledge of OFSTED / CQC as a regulatory body and the Quality Standards
