St Vincent de Paul Society (England & Wales)is looking for a dedicatedAssistant Shop Managerto support the running of our York shop.We are looking for an Assistant Shop Manager to work Sundays 10:30am–4:30pm and one weekday to cover the Shop Manager’s day off.
As Assistant Shop Manager, you’ll play a key role in helping to maximise sales, manage volunteers, and ensure our shop is welcoming, well-stocked, and run to the highest standards. You’ll take charge on Sundays and one weekday, providing cover for the Shop Manager and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.
What You'll Do:- Support the Shop Manager in achieving sales targets and growing income through donations, Gift Aid, and online selling.
- Lead the shop team when the Shop Manager is absent, ensuring excellent customer service and a well-presented shop.
- Help recruit, train, and motivate volunteers.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, safety, and compliance with SVP policies.
- Contribute to the shop’s social media presence and community engagement.
- Previous retail experience and a track record of meeting targets.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- A proactive, customer-focused approach.
- Empathy with the values and ethos of the SVP.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
