The Role: 

Traid’s Finance & HR department is looking for an organised and proactive individual to join our team as a Finance Assistant. As the Finance Assistant, you will play a vital role in the day-to-day operation of the Finance Department. This position involves assisting with various accounting tasks, maintaining financial records, administering Gift Aid, and supporting the department in the smooth operation of financial processes.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Verifying daily retail cash and credit card takings, ensuring accuracy of the figures and posting onto the accounting system.
  • Reconciling the retail sale figures.
  • Verifying and reconciling retail petty cash payments.
  • Reporting any discrepancies to the Assistant Finance Manager and resolving any disputes in a timely manner.
  • Managing and processing Gift Aid donations accurately, ensuring compliance with HMRC guidelines. Key duties involve processing donations, maintaining donor records, and assisting with Gift Aid claims.
  • Maintain accurate donor databases, update records, and assist with financial administration and reconciliation, ensuring compliance with GDPR and other regulations.
  • Undertake, on occasions, additional or other duties within the context of this role within the department.

Ideal candidate to have: 

  • Experience within the charity retail.
  • Interest and experience in finance, accounting, or related fields.
  • Understanding of financial principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel); experience with accounting software is essential.
  • Organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team and also independently when needed.
  • Good communication skills and willingness to learn.
