Job Description

Department: Finance
Job Title: Finance Assistant
Responsible To: Finance Manager

Job Purpose:
•  Provide hands-on assistance to the Finance Director and support to the Finance

Team to ensure a quality service is being provided to internal and external
stakeholders.

•  Support the day-to-day workings of the Finance Team enabling improved
business performance through accurate recording of financial information.

Key Task Areas:
•  Undertake administrative duties associated with the processing of purchase

orders, invoices, and credit notes.
•  Preparing BACS runs for payment.
•  Cash handling and banking imports for NTT (Sales and Customer Experience)
•  Control and perform petty cash administration
•  Assisting Finance Team with general administration.
•  Providing holiday and sickness cover within the Finance Team as directed by the

Finance Manager.

•  Support Finance Team in preparation of Month End schedules (Accruals, Pre-

Payments etc.)

•  Assisting with the annual external audit

Person Specification

Essential Experience:

•  Previous experience of Purchase Ledger administration.
•  Previous experience of computerised systems
•  Experience of implementing / maintaining administrative systems/procedures
•  Attending meetings and producing accurate minutes

Essential Knowledge/Qualifications:

•  Understanding of computerised sales ledger

Essential Skills/Abilities:

●  Analytical approach to problem solving
●  Excellent IT skills in Microsoft Outlook, particularly Excel and Word
●  Accurate and numerate
●  Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
●  Excellent organisational skills

Terms & Conditions

Job title: Finance Assistant

Contract: Part-Time - Permanent

Hours of work: 15 hours per week, over a minimum of three days.

Salary: £9,527.03 - £10,135.14 per annum (FTE £23,500 - £25,000)
Paid monthly on 20th of each month

Work location:
Royal & Derngate, 19-21 Guildhall Road, Northampton, Northamptonshire, NN1
1DP and The Core at Corby Cube, Corby, Northamptonshire, NN17 1QG.

Holidays:
Annual leave year is April to March
93 hours per annum including statutory holidays (pro-rata in first year)
99 hours per annum per annum after 3 years continuous service
108 hours per annum after 5 years continuous service

Pension Scheme:
Contributory staff pension – 5% employee and 3% employer
NAMT pension scheme is provided by NOW pensions
NAMT will contribute after 3 months service
