Job advert: Peep Practitioner Location: Littlemore, Oxford (with travel in Oxfordshire) Contract type: Permanent, 18-24 hours per week Overview of the role: Are you interested in a meaningful role where you’ll support parents to build on their children’s early learning, while developing your own skills along the way? We’re looking for a highly organised and proactive Peep Practitioner to deliver a range of children’s development services and programmes to parents and carers. In this role, you’ll work in partnership with parents, carers, and other professionals to deliver evidence-based Peep programmes like Learning Together in underserved communities across Oxfordshire. Responsibilities: Service delivery: • Deliver Peep programmes including Learning Together, and other family learning programmes as required primarily in underserved communities in Oxfordshire. The role will include group and 1-1 work in settings and family homes. You will work in partnership with parents/carers and other professionals. • Work with parents/carers and their children in accordance with our code of conduct and Delivery Team Procedures document. • Deliver Peep Programmes to groups of parents and children, in 1-1 work with families and through Stay and Play or other informal sessions. • Preparation of sessions, delivery of programmes, follow-up and family recruitment to ensure funders attendance targets are met. 1 www.peeple.org.uk • Assist in the organisation of, and take part in, special events and outings. • Deliver accredited family learning units to parents. Monitoring and evaluation: • Complete registers, collect feedback from families and write reports for evaluation purposes to meet the requirements of funders and management needs. • Monitor and evaluate attendance to assigned groups to maximise engagement • Follow up with families who were absent from sessions in a timely manner Development and promotion: • Contribute to the development and piloting of additional resources for the Peep Learning Together Programme and or new programmes as required. • Support the implementation of Peep programmes to other organisations and practitioners, by sharing information and knowledge, participating in the development, preparation and delivery of workshops for other professionals. Partnership working: • Work in partnership with parents/carers and outside agencies in the best interests of the families to ensure a smooth pathway for families to access support. Inclusion: • Promote an inclusive approach to service delivery and address barriers to participation. Ensure the rights of children are respected and promoted in all Peep delivery. General: • Participate in individual and team processes for reflecting on practice and identifying areas for improvement. • Undertake relevant training and development as required, including Peep Learning Together Programme training and Parent Pathway training. Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of the Learning Together Programme. Develop and maintain an up-to-date knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage and other relevant frameworks and guidance. Reflect on other training opportunities and how they enhance practice. Implement all Peeple polices including safeguarding, health and safety, equal opportunities, confidentiality and data protection. Demonstrate a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and for ensuring they are protected from harm. • • Undertake any other duties as required by Peeple and consistent with the skills and experience of a Peep Practitioner. / see over for Person specification www.peeple.org.uk 2 Person specification: Criteria Essential Desirable Experience • Working with young children and families in • Experience of the Peep individual or group context programme • Working with adults in a learning context • Experience of group work and/or outreach work Knowledge & Understanding • Recognising and understanding the existing everyday learning strategies that parents and carers use • Knowledge of the Peep Learning Together programme • Understanding the needs of children and families, particularly ‘harder to reach groups’ • Sound knowledge of child development and of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) • Understanding of safeguarding procedures and commitment to health and safety and the welfare of the child • Commitment to inclusive practice and equal opportunities Skills & Personal Qualities • Good interpersonal and communication skills including group facilitation skills • Skilled at looking after the needs of young children • Ability to empathise whilst maintaining professional boundaries • Well organised and reliable • Highly motivated and able to take initiative • Flexible and responsive approach to working with families and colleagues • Ability to reflect and improve on practice • Ability to keep accurate records and produce written materials including reports and case studies • IT skills including use of email and internet Qualifications • GCSE Grade A-C in English and Maths or • Peep City and Guilds or equivalent AIM Practitioner Accreditation • Level 3 in early years, childcare or other relevant level 3 qualification www.peeple.org.uk 3
