JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title Assessor Department Step into Learning Job Reference Reports to Location Salary Flexibility Assessor (Level 1 Catering, Hospitality and Tourism and Level 2 Catering qualifications) Internal Quality Assurance Lead Remote £15 per hour AdHoc Contractual status Self-employed Role summary To assess learners undertaking Level 1 Catering, Hospitality and Tourism and Level 2 Catering qualifications, ensuring the effective and fair assessment of both theory and practical skills through portfolio-based evidence. This role focuses on marking and assessment activities. Key responsibilities To promote equality, diversity, and rights in all actions throughout Step into Learning. These key responsibilities are neither a comprehensive nor exhaustive list, and the duties may be varied from time to time by your line manager or executive director. Conduct and mark assessments for Level 1Catering, Hospitality and Tourism and Level 2 Catering qualifications in line with awarding organisation requirements. Assess both theoretical knowledge and practical competencies through portfolio-based evidence, practical demonstration, and group discussion ensuring validity ensuring validity, reliability, and authenticity of learner work. Deliver assessment processes in accordance with Step into Learning and awarding organisation standards. 1 Provide timely, constructive, and developmental feedback to learners on progress and achievement. Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of formative and summative assessments. Ensure assessment decisions are supported by sufficient and appropriate portfolio evidence. Support learners in compiling and presenting evidence to meet assessment criteria. Ensure a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment for all learners. Identify and co-ordinate support for learners with individual needs. Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of assessment and learner engagement. Encourage learners to give feedback on their learning experience and use this to enhance programme delivery. Contribute to course review and evaluation processes to support continuous improvement. Success in this role will be measured by the effective delivery of key priorities, objectives, and targets set by the organisation. This includes achieving established performance metrics, demonstrating consistent improvement in processes, and contributing to the overall mission of Step into Learning. Additionally, the successful candidate will be expected to promote positive relationships with learners and stakeholders, enhance the quality-of-service delivery, and actively participate in 2 Measure of success Continued professional development initiatives that drive organisational growth and development. The postholder will ensure that Step into Learning safeguarding and welfare policies and procedures are known, understood, and used appropriately. The postholder will also keep detailed, accurate, secure written records of concerns and referrals (including electronic documents) and refer all concerns to the safeguarding team.
