Job Title: Business Development Manager – Maternity Cover

About the role:
As Business Development Manager, you will work as part of the Commercial Team to lead on the delivery of deal execution in support of LifeArc’s Commercial Strategy. You will also support the implementation of the preclinical, clinical and ecosystem pillar Strategies by bringing commercial insight to the development of new collaborations and partnerships.
This role will include the scouting and evaluation of opportunities and working collaboratively will colleagues across other departments including Legal, Alliance Management and Insights to deliver commercial diligence on potential partners and projects.
Key responsibilities:
- Provide BD input into internal projects and initiatives, bringing external insight and driving evaluation of new opportunities and key decisions in support of strategy
- Support delivery and deal execution for prioritised LifeArc funding opportunities and, with Legal, negotiate contracts according to LifeArc needs and requirements, managing all stakeholders and governance processes as appropriate
- Build business cases of opportunities to collaborate, fund, or use other mechanisms to advance scientific innovation towards benefit for patients
- Contribute to the delivery of LifeArc’s revenue generation strategy
- Represents LifeArc externally to attract and seek out collaborators and partners to advance LifeArc’s strategy
- Drives external networking to build awareness of LifeArc’s areas of focus, always acting as an ambassador for LifeArc strategy to external community
- Builds relationships within key organisations to assess potential partnership opportunities
- Support deal structuring and negotiations through cross-functional due diligence and development of business cases, including scenario analysis and risk assessment for governance decision-making.
(Essential) experience required:
- Previous experience in business development in pharma or biotech environment preferred
- Experience delivery of funding and collaboration contracts
- Experience communicating verbally and in writing to drive senior level decision making
- Experience representing organisation externally, networking and building relationships in support of strategic goals
Education:
- Master’s degree or more advanced studies in life sciences, but relevant business degree will also be considered
