What’s the Job?

We are seeking a qualified and experienced BSL Instructor to support our application to become an approved Signature Centre and to lead the delivery of British Sign Language qualifications.

This role will involve:

· Delivering high-quality BSL courses (Level 1 and/or Level 2)

· Preparing engaging lesson materials

· Supporting learners throughout their qualification

· Assisting with assessment preparation and internal quality processes

· Supporting centre compliance requirements in line with awarding body standards (including Signature where applicable)

This is an exciting opportunity to help establish and shape a new BSL provision from the ground up.

The Commercial Development and Delivery Team are responsible for delivering a variety of professional qualifications, including certificated and bespoke courses, in a College that aims to be one step ahead. 

Who we’re looking for

We are looking for a passionate, organised, and experienced BSL professional who:

· Holds a BSL qualification above the level they intend to teach

· Holds a recognised teaching qualification (AET, PTLLS, CertEd, PGCE or equivalent)

· Has experience delivering structured BSL courses or similar

· Understands assessment and quality assurance standards

· Is reliable, professional, and learner-focused

·       Is committed to promoting Deaf awareness and inclusive communication

To succeed in this role, you will have some or all of the following:

· Deliver engaging and well-structured lessons, demonstrating strong knowledge of BSL

· Support learners of varying abilities confidently

· Be highly organised and comfortable with documentation and compliance

· Communicate effectively with learners, staff, and awarding bodies

· Take initiative in developing teaching materials and structured lesson plans

· Support the centre through approval visits and quality checks

· Maintain professionalism and uphold safeguarding and assessment integrity standards

· Adapt to flexible working hours including evenings or weekends (if required)

· Proficiency in digital skills relevant to the role, including experience using MS Office and any job-specific software/systems

· Adaptability to evolving digital opportunities and willingness to continuously improve digital competencies.
