The Vacancy
Islamic Relief Worldwide (IRW) is a faith-based humanitarian relief and development organisation working to save and transform the lives of some of the world’s most vulnerable people. Established in 1984, with an active presence in over 45 countries, we strive to make the world a better and fairer place for those affected by poverty, conflict and natural disasters.
IRW’s established ICT department is recruiting for the position of ‘ICT Infrastructure Manager’ to join head up its Infrastructure team based out of its offices in Birmingham, UK. The organisation is currently operating to a hybrid working model.
The role:
The Infrastructure Manager oversees the design, operation, maintenance and overall management of Islamic Relief’s ICT infrastructure services. The role is responsible for ensuring all cloud and on-premise infrastructure services are available, accessible, secure, scalable and operating effectively to deliver ICT applications, communications and other managed services to over 3,500 users in over 30 countries.
The successful candidate must have:
- Strong working knowledge of project management (Prince2, PMD Pro)
- Strong knowledge of ITIL v4 and other relevant best practices
- Strong knowledge of cyber security
- Strong technical background in a WinTel environment
- Relevant certifications to manage Microsoft Azure services including InTune, Identity Management, Azure services
- Experience in ICT infrastructure management with proven track record in systems, support, implementation and migration.
- Knowledge of enterprise infrastructures including management of regional data centres and Active Directory management in a hybrid Azure environment
- Proven ability to problem-solve and deliver infrastructure projects.
- Excellent organisational skills, displaying efficiency, adaptability and versatility
- Familiar with current trends including virtualisation technologies (vmware), cloud (Azure/AWS/Digital Ocean) and hosting (Apache/Nginx/IIS) technologies and IT security.
- Implementation and support experience of Microsoft Intune and Autopilot.
- Administration of Microsoft SQL Server databases
- Possess the technical acumen to identify and recommend hardware/software changes/ upgrades/ purchases as appropriate.
- Capable of leading teams in various departments with experience in managing junior team members across a globally dispersed multi-lingual and multi-disciplinary team.
- Good customer facing skills.
- Commercially minded approach and ability to make commercially sound decisions
- Can manage multiple tasks and initiatives in parallel without compromising quality.
- Behaves in a positive manner motivating and encouraging staff
- Able to communicate effectively at all levels of the organisation and with 3rd party suppliers and stakeholders.
- Experience of successfully maintaining a complex and global ICT environment.
- Recent history of building and supporting Unified Communication platforms within a Microsoft environment.
- Proven record of excellent people and interpersonal skills with strong communication skills at individual and group levels.
- Experience managing a technical team with proven ability to deliver solutions
