About Us: We are a small, committed grassroots charity dedicated to supporting survivors of domestic abuse. Our services provide safe refuge, emotional support, and practical help to survivors as they begin to rebuild their lives in a safe, nurturing environment.
We are looking for enthusiastic, compassionate, and adaptable women to join our team as Relief Refuge Workers, supporting residents in our women’s refuge during evenings, weekends, and overnight shifts.
The Role: As a Relief Refuge Worker, you will play a vital role in maintaining a supportive, welcoming, and secure environment for women and children escaping domestic abuse. You will:
- Work flexible evening and weekend shifts (including sleep-in cover when required)
- Provide emotional and practical support to residents
- Ensure the safety and security of the refuge
- Maintain accurate records and update internal systems
- Respond to emergencies, safeguarding concerns, and support needs as they arise
- Work closely with the wider staff team to provide continuity of care
- Uphold confidentiality and our commitment to trauma-informed practice

Who We’re Looking For :

- Passionate about supporting women and children affected by domestic abuse
- Emotionally resilient, calm under pressure, and able to work independently
- Flexible and reliable, with availability for evening/weekend shifts
- Experienced in support work or working in trauma-informed settings (desirable, but not essential – training will be provided)
- Committed to feminist values and equal opportunities
