About the role

We are looking for a  Senior Policy Advisor for the Devolved Nations. This fixed term secondment post (six months, full time) will have responsibility for supporting and delivering policy and research across BMA Cymru Wales, BMA Scotland and BMA Northern Ireland, whilst also working closely with UK-wide policy teams.

This unique role will work with senior staff and a variety of elected committee members on the objectives, goals, and strategies which underpin a wide range of BMA objectives. Duties are varied and include developing robust policy briefings, research, consultation responses or guidance papers and supporting other policy and negotiation workstreams as required.

To succeed in this role, you will need to be adept at managing relationships, have experience of policy development in a health or health-related context, have excellent research and writing skills and sound judgement. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential. The ability and flexibility to work collaboratively, and support knowledge sharing across internal teams is essential to this role, as is the ability to manage a varied workload effectively.

W hilst we welcome applicants from across the UK, the successful applicant will be based in one of the three national offices – Cardiff, Edinburgh or Belfast in a hybrid working arrangement (for example two days per week based in the office and three days at home, around business need). Some travel to other national offices is likely to be required.
