£ 25,545 FTE

Appointment subject to a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service
(DBS) enhanced with barred list check, two satisfactory references,
evidence of a right to work in the United Kingdom, six-month
probationary period, and an annual performance review.

ABOUT THIS ROLE

This is an exciting opportunity to join the team at Barnsley Carers Service. The
aim of the service is to promote, support and improve the mental, physical and
emotional well-being of adult carers in Barnsley, so they can continue in their
caring role, look after their own health and well-being and have a life of their
own. The Information and Advice worker will support carers with a range of
issues, including carers rights, debt, housing, welfare benefits, employment and
education. The service will signpost to specialist advice, representation or
support services as appropriate. The Information and Advice worker will work in
conjunction with other staff of the service, and will assist in the coordination
and development of the service.

KEY TASKS

•  To provide an effective Information and Advice service for carers by phone,

email, in person or any other means available.

•  Provide home visits to carers as necessary.

 To carry out and complete an assessment of referrals
 To signpost to appropriate specific legal, advice and support services where
necessary.

•  Develop an ‘Information and Advice Plan’ in partnership with the carer which
will identify realistic goals and actions and outline discussed options and
consequences.
 To provide one-to-one advice and accessible information to carers on a wide
range of topics, rights, entitlements and appropriate services.
 To liaise with other services, including housing, welfare benefits, employment
and education providers, creditors and health and social care providers.

All staff have a responsibility toward the effective running of the service and Cloverleaf
Advocacy. As such new tasks and duties may develop in the light of experience. These may
be allocated where reasonable, after discussion with the postholder.
