Do you want to be part of the excellent leadership team, caring for and providing specialist rehabilitation to patients following brain injury or those suffering from debilitating neurological conditions?
An opportunity has arisen to temporarily become a Band 6 nursing leader on our Neurorehabilitation Ward. The position within this Directorate offers opportunities to develop your leadership skills and ongoing professional development is encouraged and supported.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced, passionate and motivated individual with effective communication skills to join this fantastic team.
Ward 26 is a dedicated Neurorehabilitation ward, providing expert neuro rehabilitation to patients following a brain injury or those who have complex Neurological conditions .
It is a busy and rewarding environment to work in, there is a expert MDT team who provide specialist rehabilitation . You will be fully supported in your exciting role by the Matron and Ward Manager, as well as your Band 6 colleague. The role requires you to be flexible, resilient and forward thinking.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will join a hardworking and forward thinking multi-disciplinary team, with a focus on safe, compassionate and effective care, to support excellent patient experience and outcomes.
You will work closely with the ward manager, to share responsibility for the daily running of the ward, supporting a culture of continued learning and improvement to meet performance indicators and quality standards whilst providing excellent patient-focused care. This will include people management, budget awareness and resource management, utilising a wide range of interpersonal skills working with colleagues within and beyond the ward multi-disciplinary team.
Applicants must be able to demonstrate proven clinical expertise in this clinical area, along with effective organisation and communication skills. You will have a key role in the training and development of the nursing team.
You will have some experience in service development/improvement and be able to demonstrate knowledge of current NHS policies and drivers.

Essential criteria
- Current NMC Registration
- Degree or Diploma in Nursing plus specialist experience/training
- Evidence of personal and professional development
- Up to date ILS and mandatory training
Experience

- Equivalent post grad study experience
- Experience working within an acute or community setting
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Ability to work within the boundaries of the NMC professional code of conduct
- Commitment to evidence based practice
- Ability to use initiative to make a decision within sphere of work and/or knowledge recognising where assistance is required
