Have you supported parent carers and seen how challenging the transition to adulthood can be for families? Do you want to help parent carers feel informed, connected, and less alone at this crucial time?

If so, we want YOU to join our amazing team at Caring Together Charity, a regional charity dedicated to supporting unpaid carers across Cambridgeshire, Peterborough and Norfolk.

We’re looking for a Carer Advisor – Parent Carer Lead to support parent carers, particularly those whose young people are preparing for adulthood. This is a community-facing role focused on connection, peer support, and helping families access the right information at the right time.

About Caring Together Charity

Our vision is a world with no unpaid carer in crisis, isolated or struggling alone.

Three in five of us will become a carer at some point in our lives. Caring Together is an ambitious regional charity that provides emotional and practical support, information and advice to carers of all ages and their families, as well as opportunities to take a break from their caring role.

What you’ll be doing

Imagine being the lifeline for someone who dedicates their life to caring for a loved one. You will:

  • Facilitate friendly, inclusive peer support groups for parent carers.
  • Organise workshops on transition-to-adulthood topics shaped by families’ needs.
  • Plan short breaks and wellbeing activities that reduce isolation.
  • Build relationships with local partners and community groups.
  • Link carers into specialist advice when needed.

Why you will love this role

  • Make a real impact:You will directly improve the lives of parent carers across Cambridgeshire.
  • Varied and rewarding work:No two days are the same! You’ll be dealing with a variety of situations and helping people in diverse ways.
  • Supportive team:You will be part of a friendly, dedicated team who are passionate about what they do.
  • Professional development:We are committed to helping you grow and develop your skills.
  • Generous annual leave entitlement:25 days annual leave (plus eight bank holidays – pro rata).
  • Employee Assistance Programme (EAP):Offering 24/7 GP and support service.
  • Paid carer’s leave and above statutory sickness leave(subject to qualifying periods).

Who we’re looking for

  • Experience supporting families, carers, or young people in community, health, disability, or SEND settings.
  • A good understanding of the challenges parent carers face, particularly when young people are preparing for adulthood.
  • Confidence facilitating groups and creating safe, inclusive spaces where people feel comfortable sharing.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage your time across different community locations.
  • The judgement to recognise when someone needs specialist advice and to support a smooth handover.
  • A collaborative approach and the ability to build positive relationships with partners.
  • Confidence using everyday digital tools, including Microsoft Office.

Lived experience as a parent carer is welcomed but not essential – we value professional experience, transferable skills, and a genuine commitment to supporting parent carers equally.

If you’re ready to join a team that’s making a real difference in the lives of unpaid carers, we want to hear from you!
