About Global Citizen

Global Citizen is an international advocacy organization working to end extreme poverty and protect the planet. We are building the world’s largest movement of action-taking global citizens who use their collective voice to drive lasting change on issues such as equity, climate, food, education, and health.

Role Overview

Global Citizen is seeking a Senior Vice President, Social Strategy and Growth to work with the Office of the CEO team. The SVP, Social Strategy and Growth is a newly created executive role charged with driving Global Citizen’s next stage of growth through culture, creativity, and community.
Reporting directly to the CEO, the role will lead the global strategy for audience growth, personality-led content, and creator-driven storytelling — transforming how Global Citizen reaches, engages, and mobilizes millions worldwide.

This leader will unify social strategy, creator partnerships, content innovation, and monetization under one integrated vision — ensuring that Global Citizen’s mission is embedded in digital culture and that awareness translates into measurable action.

Key Responsibilities

Global Growth Leadership (40%)

    • Lead the strategic design and execution of Global Citizen’s growth ecosystem and strategy to grow to a 50m movement by end 2029.
    • Establish and deliver clear KPIs for audience expansion, engagement, and monetization.
    • Embed social storytelling across all Global Citizen campaigns and departments.
    • Champion a data-driven, agile, and collaborative organizational culture that fuses creative excellence with measurable results.

Creative & Content Delivery (35%)

    • Oversee the creative framework for Global Citizen’s personality-led content ecosystem — from archetypes and tone to storytelling formats.
    • Build and manage a global network of creators and cultural figures (staff, freelancers and ambassadors) promoting Global Citizen’s mission, values and product.
    • Commission scalable digital series and experimental formats that deepen engagement across platforms.
    • Lead the cross-functional “Growth SWAT” combining Creative, Product, and Data capabilities to drive continuous performance improvement.
    • Oversee all creator contracting, governance, and brand alignment — ensuring IP ownership and long-term partnership value.

Monetization & Strategic Partnerships (25%)

    • Build partnerships (cash, in-kind and barter) to scale the Global Citizen movement
    • Develop and execute monetization models for creator and campaign content.
    • Lead integration of co-branded and sponsored formats into campaigns and tentpole events (Global Citizen Festival, Move Afrika, GC NOW).
    • Collaborate with Partnerships and Development teams to embed growth and storytelling opportunities into corporate, philanthropic, and media relationships.

Fundamental Requirements

Success Metrics

  • 10M cumulative followers across GC-affiliated creators by Dec 2026.
  • 3% conversion from content viewers to registered action-takers.
  • 6+ major campaigns annually featuring integrated creator storytelling.
  • $1M+ annual monetization or partnership value linked to creator formats.
  • 30% reduction in cost per content asset through AI and automation.

Education & Experience

  • Proven ability to build and scale creator-led or personality-driven content systems with measurable outcomes.
  • 10+ years’ leadership experience in media, entertainment, content strategy, or creator ecosystems.
  • Deep expertise in digital storytelling, social platform ecosystems, and talent management.
  • Demonstrated success in P&L ownership or revenue-generating partnerships.
  • Exceptional cross-functional leadership and executive presence.
  • Hands on ability to create, edit, direct, tag and post. Global Citizen has a culture of excellence and urgency which means at key moments in our campaigns, everyone needs to know how to deliver.

Attributes

  • Deep commitment to Global Citizen’s mission to end extreme poverty.
  • Strategic thinker who blends creativity, data, and operational rigor.
  • Collaborative, inclusive, and courageous leadership style.
  • Ability to thrive in a high-velocity, impact-oriented environment.
  • Using AI tools to work smarter and drive impact is an essential part of every role at Global Citizen. All staff must integrate AI into their daily work, whether improving workflows, analyzing information, or enhancing communication in service of our mission.
