Responsible to: The Chair of the Board
Reporting relationships: The Treasurer will consult regularly with the Chair, Vice
Chair, Trustees, Committee Chairs, and the CEO
Length of term: 3 years (max 3 terms)
Hours: Those necessary to fulfil the role but as a guidance circa one day per month
Role Description and Person Specification
Thrive Domestic Abuse Services (Thrive) is an established and well-respected charity with over 45 years’ experience of delivering support and services to women, children and families impacted by domestic abuse. Our aim is to encourage, enable and empower, as we believe that, given the right resources, everyone has the strength and capability to achieve, no matter how difficult their circumstances.
Thrive Women’s Aid is a women-led organisation and is committed to ensuring that women hold positions of power and responsibility on the Board. This means that the Chair of the Board, the CEO and the majority of Trustees of the organisation will be women.
In addition to responsibilities outlined in the Board Member job description, the role of the Treasurer will be to:
• Oversee the financial matters of TDAS in line with good practice and in
accordance with the governing document and legal requirements.
• Report to the Board of Trustees at regular intervals about the financial health
• Ensure that effective financial measures, controls and procedures are in
place, and place and are meet the needs of TDAS.
• Overseeing, approving and presenting budgets, accounts, financial
statements and financial reports to the Board of Trustees after discussion with the CEO and Finance Director.;
• Ensure that the financial resources of the organisation meet its present and
future needs and are within TDAS’s objects.;
• Being instrumental in the development and implementation of appropriate
financial, reserves policy and investment policies.;
• Keeping the board informed about its financial duties and responsibilities.;
• Chairing the Audit and Risk Committee.
• Recommending financial targets for PTAWA Enterprise Ltd and monitoring
progress against these, reporting to Board at each meeting.
