GLL is seeking a dynamic and people-focused General Manager to lead the team at West Reservoir Centre, a unique open water and watersports venue in Hackney. This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate leader to shape the future of outdoor leisure and community engagement. About the Role: As General Manager, you’ll be responsible for the day-to-day delivery of operations, ensuring the centre runs smoothly, safely, and efficiently. You’ll lead a diverse team, fostering a culture of staff development, engagement, and high performance. Your leadership will be key to delivering exceptional customer experiences and growing participation in our watersports and open water programmes. Key Responsibilities: • Lead, motivate, and develop a multidisciplinary team including lifeguards, instructors, and customer service staff • Ensure safe and effective delivery of all activities, including open water swimming, paddle sports, and events • Drive operational excellence through robust planning, risk management, and compliance with safety standards • Manage budgets, forecasts, and performance targets to ensure financial sustainability • Champion customer service and community engagement, ensuring the centre is welcoming and inclusive • Collaborate with internal and external partners to enhance programming and outreach Desirable Qualifications & Experience: • RYA Senior Instructor or Paddle UK Coach (or equivalent) • Proven experience in people management and team leadership • Strong operational background in leisure, outdoor activities, or watersports • Experience in budget management and performance improvement • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills Employee Benefits: • Career development and training opportunities • Discounted gym membership • Exclusive discounts on holidays and retail • Health assurance and wellbeing support • Ride to work scheme
