VISITING TEACHER OF SINGING JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: VISITING TEACHER OF SINGING – TWO TERM CONTRACT Responsible to: Director of Music; Head of Music (Prep) Main Purpose: To deliver one-to-one singing lessons to pupils each week during term-time, and to assist with the delivery of a range of performance opportunities as required and discussed with the Director of Music and Head of Music. Roles and Responsibilities: • To organise and deliver weekly singing lessons at Sedbergh Prep School at Casterton. Lessons at Casterton are 35 minutes. Lessons must be engaging, inspirational and age appropriate. • To maintain high expectations of all pupils’ practice and progress and set clear individual targets. • To provide termly written reports and maintain appropriate and purposeful communication with parents • To prepare pupils for internal and external performances including scholarships and examinations. • VMTs are given opportunities to assist e.g. accompaniment with performances and concerts at times. • To accompany pupils in examinations if possible and appropriate. • To keep up to date with administration including completion of timetables and timesheets, using the school’s software where necessary.
