Job Description – Technical Stage Manager:

BAD LADS – created from the testimonies of the Medomsley Boys
a new play by Mike Kenny directed by Jenny Sealey
A Graeae production in association with Live Theatre Newcastle

to assist with the get in of set and other production equipment as necessary
to assist with any other production or stage management work as necessary and as required by

The Technical Stage Manager agrees to:
to be part of a two person Stage Management team lead by the Stage Manager
to have a clean UK driving license and to share driving of company transit van.
to lead in technical liaison with tour venues
to lead on LX, sound and video rigs and pre show checks
to re- light the show in each venue remaining as close to the lighting design as time and

return set/ props/ costumes at end of the run
•  To operate technical elements of the production, in conjunction with the Stage Manager
(details TBC)

to liaise with the Production Manager and Stage Manager in reference to hires if required
to assist with setting and maintenance of props and/or technical equipment when/if necessary
in conjunction with the Production Manager & Stage Manager, to put into storage/ dispose of/

to take the lead ensuring all LX and projection equipment get outs are completed successfully
to have disability awareness and to be willing to assist with access needs as necessary

Dates:
Monday 22 September – 11 October 2025 Live Theatre Newcastle x 3 weeks (Fit-
up/production/running weeks)
Monday 13 October – 15 November 2025 on tour. 4 week tour and 1 week holiday.

BAD LADS - A story of strength, oppression, and resilience.

Bad Lads tells the gripping and devastating true story of the boys held at Medomsley Youth Detention
Centre in County Durham in the 1980s— sold to the public as a "short, sharp shock" for wayward
youth, the reality hid something much darker.

A powerful exploration of how the legal system has historically failed these working-class men; at a
time when the cry for accountability is louder than ever, Bad Lads demands remembrance and calls for
justice.
