Innovation Lead for Teaching and Learning
Coleg Sir Gar has an exciting opportunity for an Innovation Lead for Teaching and Learning, to join our award-winning teaching & learning team on a temporary basis (maternity cover).
As Innovation Lead in our Google College, an innovative and passionate individual has the opportunity to work in a central team alongside Lecturers to develop all teaching and learning matters across the college to ensure continuous high quality across FE, WBL and HE. The Innovation Lead will be working across all 7 campuses championing and leading the Digital 2030 Strategic Framework (JISC, 2019) work at the college. This will see a focus on developing and building digital competence, enhancing teaching and learning, increasing accessibility to digital resources, contributing to a safe and secure digital environment and promoting innovation and collaboration.
The teaching and learning team lead the award winning professional learning frameworks and our approach to Professional Learning is centered around the principle of curiosity. This role will develop these frameworks centered around innovation and digital innovation. As the Innovation Lead, you will lead on internal and external projects linked specifically to the transformation of digital learning. You will investigate solutions and implement them in a dynamic environment, where two days are never the same.
This role is pivotal to our vision for Teaching, Learning and Professional Learning and digital pedagogy. You will work closely with the management teams in the college, exploring opportunities and shaping the future learning experience for all those who work and learn with us. You will also work closely with the Head of Teaching, Learning and Education and Director of Teaching, Learning and Education on innovative AI related projects, and sharing developments with colleagues.
About the Role
As Innovation Lead for Teaching and Learning, the main purpose will be to:
- To lead and support innovation in all learning and teaching developments at Coleg Sir Gar and Coleg Ceredigion;
- To support all professional development for all academic staff across Coleg Sir Gar and Coleg Ceredigion;
- To lead and support all technology enhanced learning developments at Coleg Sir Gar and Coleg Ceredigion;
- To lead and support internal and external projects and collaborations related to Teaching and Learning;
- To contribute to delivery on courses in the curriculum of Teaching, Learning and Education;
- To lead and support in the delivery, design and scoping of projects in relation to generative AI and digital pedagogy.
- To implement our digital pedagogy strategy that will have college wide impact and will continually transform and evolve the digital teaching and learning experience.
- Establish yourself as an expert in the use of technology, with particular emphasis on the potential of Digital Teaching and Learning of the future.
- Work with Curriculum teams to embed innovative curriculum specific technology to enhance the learner experience and skill set
What you will need
To be successful in the role, you will need:
- Degree or equivalent Qualification
- Teaching Qualification
- Relevant teaching experience
- Recent/relevant experience of TEL
- Evidence of innovative teaching and learning activities
- Evidence of innovative approaches to generative AI in the teaching and learning landscape
- Evidence of confidence with the Google Workspace
- Experience of working with KPIs
Whilst it is not essential, additional qualifications to demonstrate lifelong learning would be desired, alongside a good understanding of relevant issues in post 16 education, and awareness of key performance indicators.
Welsh Language Requirements:
- Welsh Oracy (Listening/Speaking) - Level 0/1 Desirable
- Welsh Literacy (Writing/Reading) - Level 0/1 Desirable

In 2013 it became Coleg Sir Gar Ltd, a company within the University of Wales: Trinity Saint David Group, and part of a regional Dual Sector University. Coleg Ceredigion was created in 1985 and became a corporate institution in 1993. The college merged with the University of Wales Trinity Saint David as a subsidiary company in 2014. The college has an annual turnover of £6m and employs around 180 staff.
