12-15 hours, permanent contract
£25000 - £31000 FTE depending on experience Catch the Fire Three Rivers (Rickmansworth) kids.3rivers@catchthefire.com
Catch the Fire Three Rivers is a vibrant and active church based in Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire. The church was planted in 2021 and has seen consistent growth during this time. The children’s ministry has been a key area of focus since the church started and we have been delighted to see our children grow in their faith under the leadership and care of our amazing team of staff and volunteers.
Our current Children’s Pastor is stepping up into a more church-wide leadership focused role, and as such, we are now actively seeking an energetic and enthusiastic Children’s Pastor who will work with the church Leadership Team to invest, develop and grow an already thriving children’s ministry.
Kid’s church vision:
Our vision is to see a generation who are alive in their faith with Jesus, who are committed to follow Him throughout their teenage years and can be a light for Jesus in their families, schools and communities.
We want to invest our time, love and energy into their faith journeys so that they would know God’s plan is for them and God’s presence is with them whatever
may come. We encourage interactions with Holy Spirit daily and pray for God’s kingdom to come in and through our children.
Our children are not ‘the church of tomorrow’ - they are very much valued members of our church family today! As such, the kid’s church activities are designed to inspire and grow them in active and exciting expressions of faith and relationship with God. Children regularly make up a third or more of our Sunday congregation, and they are a hugely important part of our church as a whole.
Main responsibilities will include:
- Planning and running children’s work sessions during our Sunday services
- Demonstrating to both children and wider church family what an active and vibrant faith looks like
- Organising and attending family socials to build community among both children and parents in the church
- Developing and upskilling existing team members
- Praying for the children and families within the church and getting involved with the leadership of a monthly family service
- Working to strengthen and develop existing relationships with other local churches, particularly in the area of joint outreach events
- Integrating fully into the life of the church through attending other church events and making an effort to connect with the wider church family
Personal specification:
- The right candidate will have an active and daily relationship with Jesus and invite Holy Spirit into every area of their lives
- They will love children and always hold in mind the potential and growth of the child when they interact with them
- They will thrive in a busy working environment, encouraging active games and energetic dancing during worship, as well as having excellent behaviour management skills to ensure children feel safe and understand boundaries within Kids Church
- They will have brilliant Bible knowledge and have applied the teachings in Kids Church to their own lives, and have a creative flair to break down and explain difficult Biblical concepts through experiments, games, crafts and study in a relatable and clear way
- No formal children’s ministry training is needed, but candidates will be expected to outline their experience, skills and suitability in their application
- The right candidate will have brilliant people skills to recruit, support and train a team, and organisation skills to coordinate rotas, curriculums and special events in the church calendar
Hours, pay and line management:
This is a part-time role, between 12-15 hours a week depending on the candidate. Pay scale is between £25000 - £31000 (FTE) depending on experience.
There may be an option for reduced rate accommodation for the right candidate. If this would be something you would be interested in please highlight this in your application.
The role is permanent and due to start in February 2026.
This role will be supervised and supported by the current Children’s Pastor, who is stepping up into a more church-wide leadership focused role, making it a brilliant first ministry job for a recent graduate or someone seeking to make a career move.
Kids Church Values:
- Relationship: Encourage and enable each child to have a meaningful and real relationship with God through stories, activities, journal & prayer time and games. This is our number one aim for our kids ministry
- Love: See, value and love each child who comes in through the door through the love of the Father. Wherever possible we seek to meet the needs of the child and understand that each child will experience Kid’s Church differently and we should adapt our approach to ensure every child feels loved within our setting
- Joy: Kids church will be fun, dynamic and full of joy, even when we’re discussing serious and meaningful topics. We understand that kids need to be active, to have breaks and to be creative and our sessions reflect that. Each leader or helper should demonstrate this and serve because they want to be there, not because they feel they have to be
- Peace: We pray peace over our kids rooms each week, that they will be spaces free of anxiety and where children are at peace to authentically be who God has created them to be
- Enabling: wherever possible, we want children to feel empowered and able so we encourage them to problem solve, be responsible and do things for themselves like read the Bible and pray aloud
- Valued: We want our kids to feel part of the Church body as a whole and seek to build appropriate relationships between the adult and kids church wherever possible through family services, prayer activities and making crafts for the adults
