The Head Porter has overall responsibility for leading the Porters’ Lodge which acts as a welcoming and professional reception to the College. Supported by a Deputy Head Porter and a dedicated team of Duty Porters, the Head Porter ensures the Lodge is run with professionalism, warmth and efficiency, providing a welcoming experience for all who come through our doors.
Following the retirement of our long-standing Head Porter, we are seeking a new leader with:

Open 24 hours a day, every day of the year, the Porters’ Lodge is much more than a reception. It is a central hub of College life, working closely with departments across the institution to keep everything running smoothly and provide support to out-of-hours challenges. The Head Porter has a unique overview of how the College operates and will play a key role in ensuring its daily success.
The main functions of the Porters’ Lodge include:

Acting as the first point of contact for students, staff and visitors, delivering a friendly and helpful service.

Maintaining the security and safety of the College community.

Leading on fire safety management across the College.

Responding swiftly and effectively to emergencies and out-of-hours challenges.

Overseeing the smooth delivery and distribution of post and parcels to the lodge.

Working arrangements and salary
• Full time hours are 37.5 hours per week
• Competitive salary of £42,000 - £45,000 per annum depending on skills and experience
