Job Description: Examination Invigilator Job purpose Kingswood School is seeking responsible, reliable, and attentive individuals to join our Exams Team as Exam Invigilators. This role is essential in ensuring the integrity and smooth running of both internal and external examinations. Exam Invigilators help create a calm, supportive environment, ensuring that candidates can perform to the best of their abilities in a secure and regulated setting. Key duties & responsibilities • Set up examination venues by laying out stationery, equipment, and examination papers in accordance with strict regulations. • Ensure that students enter the exam room in an orderly manner and are seated according to the seating plan. • • Start and finish exams according to official protocols, reading announcements clearly and ensuring all candidates are aware of exam conditions. Supervise students during examinations, ensuring no unauthorised materials are brought in or used. • Be vigilant and observant throughout the exam, maintaining a quiet and controlled environment. • Respond to any queries raised by candidates, offering clarification as permitted under exam regulations. • Collect exam scripts at the end of the exam and ensure they are sorted and delivered securely to the Exams Officer. • Report any irregularities, incidents, or breaches of exam regulations immediately. • Assist with any administrative tasks related to examinations as required by the Exams Officer. It should be noted that this is not a definitive list; the role holder may be asked to perform other reasonable duties as requested. You are expected to: • Conduct yourself with professionalism, tact and diplomacy at all times as a representative of Kingswood • Observe health and safety procedures and work safely at all times • To comply with all school policies and procedures including reporting any concerns to the appropriate person in relation to those covering child protection, health, safety, welfare, security, confidentiality and data protection. The ideal candidate Essential qualifications, experience and skills • Excellent attention to detail. • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. • Punctual, reliable, and calm under pressure. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. • Understanding of the need for confidentiality and integrity. Desirable qualifications, experience and skills • Previous experience as an invigilator, working with children, or in an educational setting. • Knowledge of JCQ (Joint Council for Qualifications) regulations (training will be provided). • Availability during peak exam periods (typically May to June and November and January). Part time may also be considered. If, in the course of carrying out the duties of the post, you become aware of any actual or potential risks to the safety or welfare of children in the school, you must report any concerns to the School’s Designated Safeguarding Lead. Protecting children from the risk of radicalisation is part of the School’s safeguarding duties (under the Prevent Duty). Terms and conditions Normal hours of work will be as required and in accordance with the examination timetable and at particular times of the year i.e. November, January, and 6 weeks over the summer term. Invigilation support may be required from 8.30am to 5.30pm. Successful candidates will be expected to provide details of non-availability within the exam periods.
