At the University of Plymouth Students’ Union (UPSU), we believe in being social, inclusive, and student-focused, and we work hard to create incredible opportunities and experiences for our members.

We are looking for a proactive Advocacy Advisor to support the Advocacy Manager in leading in the development of the advice and academic representation structure; empowering students to have their voices heard for the benefit of the student experience.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing specialist, comprehensive advice to the students at the University of Plymouth. As the workload fluctuates across the year, particular challenges are faced in maintaining an appropriate level of organisation and efficiency during busy periods, as well as retaining a clear student focus.

Requirements include:

  • Qualified to degree level or equivalent qualification and/or experience
  • At least 2 years experience of providing welfare advice
  • Knowledge of issues affecting students in UK Higher Education
  • Experience of managing own caseload
  • Excellent communication skills

Why join UPSU?

  • A supportive, friendly workplace where you’ll make a real difference to students.
  • Opportunities for training and personal development.
  • UPSU closes over Christmas, giving you valuable extra time off to recharge.
