JOB SUMMARY
To provide effective support to help students to overcome challenges and reach their full potential. This will include assessment of students’ needs, providing one-to-one support, organisation, delivery and development of tailored learning activities and programmes to support progression and partnership working with external and internal support services.
MAIN DUTIES
• Recruit learners for college programmes
• Liaise with partners in accessing referrals
• Support young people and adults to engage with education and develop skills and qualifications for progression
• Maintain current students who are at risk from disengaging or being withdrawn through individualised support plans
• Promote learning opportunities within Glasgow Clyde College and other organisations
• Coordinate support for students via college support areas and external agencies
• Support learners taking a nurturing, trauma-informed approach with an understanding of those facing multiple barriers to learning
• Plan and deliver individual and group sessions as part of a programme which includes all the required elements to achieve leaning goals
• Manage the programme, ensuring that students have access to a high quality learning experience
• Provide leadership and guidance to students on the programmes, taking responsibility for their health, safety and welfare, including appropriate disciplinary procedures and internal progression
• Undertake risk assessments for students when participating in external events, work placements and volunteering
• Conduct regular meetings for evaluation, review and assessment with groups and on an individual basis
• Provide appropriate evaluation and records of student performance and progress
• Submit regular reports and attend meetings with line manager, department and partners
• Contribute, and make significant input, to staff team discussions, planning, review and evaluation
• Provide the relevant teaching to ensure that students can complete the SQA units within the programme
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Undertake projects as directed by the line manager
• Proactively collaborate with internal and external partners
• Keep abreast of current developments relevant to the department
• Actively participate in on-going training and development activity and the Personal Development Review process
• Serve on College committees, as required
