About the role

Summary

We are seeking two professional actors with experience performing in pantomime and facilitating community workshops to join an exciting community pantomime project in collaboration with The Wallich to be held at Porters. This production will bring together community participants from homelessness charity The Wallich with a range of skill levels alongside two professional actors to create a fun, inclusive and high-quality performance as part of Cardiff’s Christmas theatre programme.

Role Description: Actor Facilitators (2 Positions)

  • Perform key roles within the pantomime production
  • Support the Director during rehearsals and workshops
  • Facilitate skills development sessions for community cast members from The Wallich
  • Mentor participants in performance techniques, including:
    • Acting and characterisation
    • Voice and projection
    • Movement and stagecraft
    • Line learning techniques
    • Confidence-building and ensemble performance
  • Encourage participation and help create a positive, engaging rehearsal environment

Role Requirements

  • Proven experience in theatre performance
  • Experience working with community groups or non-professional performers
  • Enthusiastic and able to motivate participants
  • Non-judgemental and able to work collaboratively, inclusively and compassionately with a range of personalities and skill levels
  • Reliable, consistent and able to remain flexible around the changing needs of the participant group

Project Details

  • Location: Porters Cardiff
  • Contract Period: 5 October – 4 December
  • Performance Dates: Wednesday 2 and Thursday 3 December
  • Fee: £1,750
