This is a key professional services role supporting the academic and operational life of the College as it continues to grow and diversify its provision across multiple pathways and centres. The role focuses on cross-pathway academic administration, contributing to the smooth, effective and well-coordinated operation of the College. A Profile of Ripon College Cuddesdon Ripon College Cuddesdon is one of the Church of England’s principal institutions for ministerial formation. Founded in 1854, the College provides theological education and formation for ordinands and other students across a range of pathways, including residential and non-residential provision, contextual and lay pathways, and a growing network of satellite centres. The College is entering a period of continued growth and complexity, with expanding pathways and partnerships requiring resilient, well-structured administrative support across academic and student-facing and senior leadership functions. For further information, please visit: www.rcc.ac.uk The Role This is a full-time role focused on cross-pathway academic administration. The postholder will provide general academic administrative support to the Academic Registrar, supporting academic tracking systems, student feedback collection, Moodle management and other routine, cyclical and data-intensive academic processes. The role is central to ensuring the effective coordination and delivery of academic administration across the College’s pathways. The postholder will contribute more broadly to the day- to-day administrative and front-of-house operation of the College. The role operates within the academic administration function, with day-to-day priorities agreed in consultation with the Academic Registrar. Overall line management and HR responsibility sits with the Bursar. Key Responsibilities 1. Academic and Cross-Pathway Administration • Provide general administrative assistance to the Academic Registrar across the College’s pathways, including Cuddesdon Gloucester Hereford (CGH), Church Mission Society (CMS), Elizabeth Pathway (EP), Children Young People and Families (CYPF), Incumbent Leadership Programme (ILP) and the forthcoming Chelmsford Pathway, working in partnership with local pathway administrators where in post. • Support academic tracking systems and contribute to the maintenance of student records, working with colleagues across the Academic and Student Administration teams to ensure data is accurate, complete and maintained in a timely manner, including monitoring marking and moderation workflows and issuing reminders where required. • Prepare agendas and take minutes for academic meetings as required, including Boards of Studies and other relevant academic committees. • Provide administrative support relating to Moodle and other academic systems, including routine updates, data entry and user support. • Support academic reporting cycles, returns and internal data requests as required. • Provide administrative support to satellite pathway centres, acting as a point of coordination between centres and the central Academic Office. • Undertake routine, cyclical and project-based academic administration as agreed with the Academic Registrar, contributing to the smooth running of academic operations across the College. 2. Other Duties • Undertake other duties as reasonably directed by the Bursar, appropriate to the role and level of responsibility. Page | 2 • Contribute to a culture of professionalism, collaboration and continuous improvement within the College’s professional services teams. • Handle information appropriately, maintaining confidentiality and complying with data protection requirements (GDPR) and College policies. • Contribute to front-of-house and reception provision within the College, supporting a welcoming and professional environment for students, visitors and guests. Desirable Relevant qualification or training in administration, higher education administration, or a related professional field Experience of working in a higher education, theological education or similar academic environment Experience of supporting academic administration processes, student records, or quality assurance activities. Summary Terms & Conditions Job Title: Academic Administrator Reports to: Bursar (for HR and employment matters) Works closely with: Academic Registrar; Academic Dean; Student Administration Manager; Pathway Administrators Location: Ripon College Cuddesdon, OX44 9EX (with occasional travel to satellite pathway centres, as required) Contract Type: Permanent, subject to satisfactory completion of a six-month probation period Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday–Friday 09:00–17:00 (1 hour unpaid lunch), with some flexibility for evening/weekend working. Working Pattern: The standard working pattern for this role is full-time, Monday to Friday. Due to the nature of the College’s academic calendar, some flexibility will be required at peak points in the academic year. Salary: £30,000 Holiday: 30 days plus 8 bank holidays. Pension: Eligible for membership of a Church of England Pension Scheme. The College contributes 6.5% of basic pay, with a minimum 1.5% employee contribution. The College also contributes 0.5% for life insurance cover. Meals: Free lunches are available to staff during term time when the College kitchens are open.
