Group Worker (SRP and Wellbeing, Likewise)
Location: Sheffield
Hours: Part-time, 21 hours per week
Salary: £25,704 FTE (£15,422 actual)
At Project 6, we believe that everyone has the capacity for positive change. We’re a people-first charity supporting individuals and families affected by alcohol and drug use to build healthier, happier lives.
Our Likewise service in Sheffield provides safe spaces where people can build confidence, find connection, and move forward in their recovery journeys.
About the Role
As a Group Worker, you’ll play a vital role in helping people overcome challenges related to alcohol and drug use. You’ll support them one-to-one and in group settings, helping them take the next steps toward recovery, wellbeing, and community connection.
Your work will focus on running structured recovery and wellbeing groups, as well as providing one-to-one support in our Sheffield offices or in the community.
You’ll help people:
- Explore and address their relationship with alcohol or other substances
- Build skills for relapse prevention, coping and self-care
- Connect with community services and supportive networks
- Improve their health, confidence and social wellbeing
About You
We know there’s no one “right” way into this role. Whether you bring professional experience, voluntary work, or lived experience, what matters most is your empathy, compassion and belief in people’s capacity for change.
We’d love to hear from you if you:
- Have experience supporting people affected by alcohol or other drug use
- Are confident facilitating groups or one-to-one sessions
- Can build trusting relationships and manage sensitive conversations
- Have good organisational skills and can use technology to support your work
- Understand the challenges people face when working towards recovery
- Bring a personal commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion
- Formal qualifications (e.g. NVQ 3 in Health and Social Care) are great but not essential if you can demonstrate relevant experience and a commitment to learning.
Why join us?
At Project 6, we care about your wellbeing too. That’s why we offer:
- 38 days paid holiday (including bank holidays – pro-rata for part-time staff)
- Annual salary of £15,422 (equivalent to £14.13 per hour)
- A generous 5.5% employer pension contribution
- A flexible 21-hour working week, with a family-friendly 9.30am start
- A supportive, inclusive team environment where you’ll be valued and encouraged to grow
We committed to equity, diversity, and belonging; we know the best services are built by teams with varied backgrounds and experiences.
Project 6 is committed to being a safe, healthy, and non-discriminatory employer. You will need to abide by our code of conduct, health and safety and HR Policies.
