Male Helpline & Admin Project Support Worker
Location: Hybrid working, days in office to be agreed with line manager
Salary: £25,766 pa FTE, £14,623.95 actual salary for 21 hours
Hours: Part time 21 hours per week. Fixed Term until 31/3/26, possible extension depending on funding
About the role
Be the voice of reassurance and hope on our helpline, offering male survivors the support they need to take their first steps towards safety and healing.
Equation is looking for a compassionate, organised and resilient individual to join our specialist team as a Male Helpline & Admin Project Support Worker.
This is a unique position that blends frontline support with essential admin responsibilities. You’ll be the first point of contact for men experiencing domestic or sexual abuse, as well as professionals and third parties reaching out for advice.
On the helpline, you’ll provide empathetic listening, immediate safety planning, risk assessments and referrals, ensuring that every caller feels heard and supported. Behind the scenes, you’ll handle vital administrative tasks; from inputting referrals and updating case files to preparing information for multi-agency meetings.
Your time will be split between these two areas, with survivor calls always taking priority. As the service grows, you’ll also support community awareness campaigns and play a part in shaping how we reach more men affected by abuse.
What we’re looking for
We’re looking for someone who can balance sensitivity with efficiency, and who thrives in a role that combines people-focused support with accurate record-keeping. You’ll bring:
- Direct support experience with vulnerable adults, those with complex needs, or survivors of domestic abuse
- Experience of risk assessment, safety planning and support planning with service users
- Strong understanding of safeguarding procedures for children and vulnerable adults
- Knowledge of local referral pathways (MASH, MARAC) and domestic abuse legislation
- Excellent communication skills – written and verbal – to support survivors and collaborate with partners
- Working knowledge of IT, including Microsoft Office, and confidence in using case recording systems
- Ability to work confidentially, within Data Protection and safeguarding frameworks
- A talent for prioritising workload effectively in a fast-paced, risk-led environment
How to apply
Applications can be made via our recruitment portal. Apply here. For any questions, please email admin@equation.org.uk. CVs cannot be accepted.
