The Opportunity 
 
The Head of Career Development and Employer Relations is a strategic leader, responsible for managing and overseeing the campus career development and employer relations team by supporting learning through comprehensive career development programming and activities. This team delivers a full range of career programming, cultivates relationships with employers, and collaborates with campus departments to integrate career readiness initiatives into the student experience and support the employment success of students. 

This role requires expertise in career development and an understanding of the local and regional job market. As the campus team lead you will guide the Career Development and Employer Relations team while serving as the main point of contact in collaboration with other campus leads and the central team to ensure global alignment and coordination between our global campuses. This role reports directly to the Campus Dean and under the Dean’s leadership, will work closely with other Campus teams (Academics, Visas, Student Services, and Faculty) to deliver a coordinated and impactful Career journey to Hult students. This role will also participate in regular Career programming review and revisions as part of Hult’s annual program review cycle.  
 

Responsibilities: 

Team Management 

Provides leadership, organization and administrative oversight of the Career Development and Employer Relations campus teams and mentors team members to achieve key performance metrics.

Directs the development and implementation of innovative career development and programs, career advising and consultations, workshops and professional development, employer relations, partnerships and opportunities, and industry events to enhance student job readiness, engagement and student success. Stays current with trends and innovations in career development.

Provides leadership in leveraging technology and online platforms to enhance career programming delivery and reach a broader student population. Oversees campus content of promotional materials, including brochures, posters, digital content (social media), and other marketing that effectively convey the value of career development and engagement of students.

Attends bi-weekly calls with other campus career heads to support collaboration and global coordination and attends monthly calls with Campus Deans, Provost, and Central Team to ensure team performance metrics are on track.

Manage the collection and reporting on employment data as well as reporting needs to the Central Team to support strategic decision-making processes, rankings data requests, student outcome reporting, and compliance reporting.

Provide monthly student career success stories for Marketing and enrolment team and participate in and support enrolment training events (online and/or in person)

Maintain confidentiality of student records (in compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act).

Career Development Programming and Student Advising 

Manage the team to organize and execute interactive career workshops covering all career and job search fundamentals – career assessment, personal branding, resume writing, proactive job searches, interviewing techniques, mock interviews, salary negotiations, etc.

Collaborates across campus with colleagues and faculty to build partnerships for embedding career readiness competencies, career programming, and career preparation into the curricular and co-curricular student experience.

Serves as a Career advisor to a select group of UG students. Fills in for other Advisers when needed.

Delivers presentations, classes, and/or workshops to students as part of the Career programming

Provides direction and guidance in the training, development, supervision, and evaluation of team members

Employer Relations  

Guides the Employer Relations team in developing and maintaining relationships with employers (local, regional, and global), local alumni, and industry partners to create pipelines and partnerships for students and their future career opportunities.

Maintain cooperative partnerships to identify viable job opportunities for students, on-campus employer activities, guest speakers, recruiting events, etc.

Guide and support the ER team to ensure they meet their annual KPIs, including; sourcing contacts and opportunities that lead to full-time and internships for students, securing alumni and corporate contacts for panels, setting up company engagement opportunities, partnering with professional organizations on co-branded events, and serving on the Campus business challenge task force

Provides direction and guidance in the training, development, supervision, and evaluation of team members

*On campus Requirement - This position requires on-campus presence at least 4 days a week with 5 days during peak periods of the academic year. Current 1-day work-from-home (WFH) allowance must be coordinated with campus team to ensure adequate team coverage on campus. Note that the WFH allowance is subject to change in accordance with School review. 

Qualifications 

Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred in Career Advising, Student Affairs, Higher Education, Business Administration, or related field.

Minimum three years of experience in career development, professional development, employer relations, and/or corporate recruiting.

Familiarity with recruitment practices, most in demand roles and skills and overall market dynamics, regionally and nationally. Deep knowledge and network in one or more functional areas and/or one or more industry sectors is highly valued.

Keen interest in understanding and communicating regional employment opportunities. Strong sense of local, regional and global business and related hiring trends. General awareness of global employment opportunities.

Experience working with Handshake or other career development and assessment platforms. Proficient in database management systems (especially Salesforce) and Microsoft Office (especially Excel).

Exceptional facilitation and presentation skills in both formal and informal settings, ability to effectively and enthusiastically present to and interact with students, one on one, in facilitated classroom and workshop formats.

Staff management experience

Effective at building relationships, influencing others, and working collaboratively across teams.

Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively across diverse cultures.

Detail-oriented with strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.

International work experience and exposure to multicultural environments is a plus.
