NatCen, our

Biomedical Fieldworkersplay a vital role in collecting health data that directly informs national policy and improves services across the UK. You’ll be the face of important public health studies, visiting people in their homes to collect physical and biological measurements — including blood samples.

We’re looking for confident, compassionate individuals with recent experience in venepuncture who are comfortable working independently and engaging with a wide range of people in their own homes.

What does the role involve?

  • Visiting selected households in your local area (pre-selected by our research team)
  • Collecting physical measurements including height, weight
  • Taking blood samples via venepuncture
  • Encouraging participation and building rapport with participants
  • Working flexibly – including early mornings (for fasting blood samples)

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience of taking human blood samples (venepuncture) within the last 24 months
  • A valid Hepatitis B immunity certificate (blood test or booster evidence)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Friendly, professional, and resilient approach
  • Ability to work independently
  • Access to a car (in some locations)
  • Willingness to travel locally
