Job Description
We’re seeking an experienced strategic leader at senior management level, to join our AoC Sport Board. AoC Sport is the membership organisation for further education (FE) colleges, leading the development of sport and physical activity in 16+ education. We believe that sport and physical activity are essential components of college life, giving students significant advantages in education, employment and health. Our vision is for every college student to participate regularly in sport or physical activity. Our purpose is to promote, support and deliver college sport and physical activity.
As a Board Member, you’ll help set our strategic direction, provide constructive challenge and oversight, and champion sport and physical activity across the FE sector, ensuring strong governance, financial stewardship, and positive impact for colleges.
Commitment: Around four Board meetings a year (c2 hours each) plus reasonable preparation and contribution between meetings. This is an unpaid non-executive role; expenses are covered.
What you’ll bring:
- A track record of strategic leadership and good governance.
- The ability to scrutinise performance and risk while keeping a sector-wide perspective.
- Credibility to represent AoC Sport with external bodies and stakeholders.
Timeline:

- Initial informal interviews: w/c 26 January 2026 with the AoC Company Secretary and the Chair of the Board.
