We are looking for a mature Christian to join our community, coupling the performance of religious duties with a non-pastoral role overseeing the catering function at Blairmore House, the home of Ellel Scotland.
Ellel Scotland, Aberdeenshire
Applications deadline: Friday 28th November 2025 28 Nov 25
Residential
Given our ethos as a Christian community, applicants are required to be Christians and have a heart for the healing ministry. Participation in our Christian community and performance of religious devotional duties are an essential aspect of this role and include daily team prayer and worship meetings. You will also have opportunities to grow in your Christian faith through regular attendance on teaching courses through our Two-Year Discipleship Programme for your own personal development and to receive prayer ministry.
Other opportunities may include welcoming and/or hosting guests to the centre; training in prayer ministry and opportunities to share short devotional messages with the team and/or guests on events; opportunities for teaching and/or group leading during events with guests.
You will be an experienced chef who can oversee the function and working of the kitchen, serving food daily to both team and guests.
Working directly with the centre management, you will carry the responsibility for ordering and stock control, menu planning, day-to-day running of the kitchen and ensuring compliance with UK food safety and hygiene regulations.
There is an expectation that you will ensure the provision of good quality, nutritious meals whilst working within allocated budgets.
This highly responsible role requires an experienced candidate with excellent organisational skills. You will be required to organise, train and supervise a small kitchen team, some of whom have little experience.
As part of a close-knit team, you will fill an invaluable role in fulfilling the vision for the ministry as outlined in Luke 9:11 where Jesus welcomed the people, taught them about the kingdom of God and healed those who needed healing.
The role is a full-time, live-in position and will be on a fixed term for two years as part of our Service and Discipleship programme. It comes with full board accommodation (private bedroom and shared kitchen, bathroom and living areas) along with an appropriate allowance to cover personal expenses. The role will include evening, weekend and bank holiday working on a rota basis.
Applicants must be able to demonstrate a current right to work in the UK. Please be aware that we may need to withdraw this vacancy from the website earlier than the planned closing date in the event of an ideal candidate being identified early on in the recruitment process.
