An exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate, enthusiastic, self-motivated individual to join the Pain Management Service.

Candidates will have an interest in pain management and a desire to develop their knowledge and experience to deliver high, safe, quality patient care.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will need to adopt a visible and accessible approach for patients, their relatives, carers and staff. They will be able to demonstrate post registration experience and level of clinical knowledge, positive leadership skills and evidence of on-going continuous professional development.

Suitable to offer training post at B5 progressing to B6 once qualifications and competencies achieved.

The department is committed to staff development and offers a good competency based training package to enable progression from a Band 5 to Band 6 nurse in a timely manner. As the main Tertiary Centre within the Tees Valley, candidates will have the opportunity to develop their nursing skills in an exciting multi-disciplinary environment. The post holder will work within the context of a supportive, comprehensive, multi-professional, specialist team but will be required to provide advice and support to patients and carers.

The post holder will be part of a team of 2 Specialist Nurses, 2 Neuromodulation Sisters, 1 Chronic Pain Sister and 2 Health Care Assistants.

Essential criteria
  • Current NMC registration.
  • Diploma or Degree in Adult Nursing.

Experience

  • Evidence of professional and clinical development

  • Ability to use initiative to decide within sphere of work and/or knowledge recognising where assistance is required
  • Work with minimal supervision and will challenge the practice of others

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Work within the boundaries of NMC Code pf Professional
  • Intermediate level information technology skills e.g., Microsoft, Office, database entry, EcaMIS
  • Knowledge and experience of providing person centred care
  • Understands physiological and social needs of patients and their families
  • Implement the 6 Cs of practice
  • Expect to plan, prioritise workload and implement evidence-based care and evaluate outcomes of treatment
  • Venepuncture competency
  • Ability to present written information clearly
