About the role:

We are looking to recruit a motivated, dynamic and energetic fitness instructor seeking to make a difference by working with people to increase their health, wellbeing, and fitness levels!

Our specialised Westbank Gyms accommodate the needs of the local population alongside people who require support and expertise to assist them in overcoming physical challenges and recovery from poor health. Our clients include some who need help to regain fitness following an ill-health event, people less able with physical challenges, and those who wish to maintain and improve their existing fitness and strength.

As a Westbank Fitness Instructor:

  • You will be required to provide evidence-based and client-focussed exercise, advice, and assistance to a wide variety of people accessing our health and fitness service at our site in Exminster, and at other possible locations around Devon;
  • You will deliver engaging classes for our service users
  • You will deliver personal training session when on shift
  • You will be required to build and maintain positive, motivating relationships with our clients while fostering the inclusive, welcoming environment that is the foundation of everything we do with our customers;
  • You will perform gym inductions for new clients, covering basic equipment usage and health and safety obligations;
  • You will assist clients within the general population with their exercise programmes and by offering advice on the gym floor;
  • You will assist the Gym Manager with admin tasks involving the exercise referral programme, data maintenance and reporting.

What we are looking for:

We will be shortlisting on the following criteria, so please make reference as to how you meet these in your covering letter:

  • Level 3 Personal Trainer qualification;
  • Level 2 studio cycling instructor qualification;
  • Experience of working independently, and as part of a team;
  • Comfortable to work alone;
  • Ability to adapt coaching style to suit different client needs;
  • Experience of delivering group exercise classes;
  • Experience of using a CRM database;
  • Experience of providing a friendly, warm and welcoming service to clients;
  • Experience of working in a gym environment;
  • Flexibility (to cover leave and weekend shifts as required);
  • Level 3 GP Referral qualification (desirable).
