About the role
Reporting to the Senior Programme Officer, the Emergency Programme Officer facilitates, manages and coordinates Christian Aid Zimbabwe Start Network Start Ready Risk Pool 4 funded project, supporting Christian Aid’s Climate Adaptation, Resilience, and Humanitarian focus areas. The role will be based in Harare, with regular travel to Gwanda project area for partner project cycle management support, including program quality oversight and meetings with stakeholders and program participants. This role demands the services of a Project Officer with prior experience in anticipatory action to ensure effective execution and impact. The Project Officer role is also expected to support innovative project ideas and identify funding opportunities that align with our objectives.
Main Areas of Respponsibility and Accountability
- Coordinate the development and implementation of the anticipatory projects on Climate Adaptation, Resilience & Humanitarian support ensuring standardized approaches, programme quality, compliance, and quality reporting.
- Provide specialist anticipatory action, climate adaptation and resilience technical advice and support to partners on the implementation of Christian Aid’s interventions and approaches on drought hazard preparedness, early warning systems and response.
- Provide day to day technical support to partner on the Gwanda project and supports collection, collation and analysis of relevant monitoring, evaluation and learning data and reporting.
- Represent Christian Aid Zimbabwe externally in relevant partner, NGO or government coordination platforms to enhancing coordination, and adopting complementary approaches including active participation in relevant coordination and planning mechanisms.
- Support the country programme in development and fundraising initiatives in line with the thematic focus through quality concepts, proposals development and enhance internal and external learning.
About you
Who we are looking for.
Essential:
- University degree in Agriculture (Agriculture Production, Agriculture Economics, Agribusiness) or a related climate adaptation programming experience.
- Knowledge and experience Anticipatory Action, Project Cycle Management, Climate Smart Agriculture, Community Managed Disaster Risk Reduction, Water supply systems, Natural Resource Management, Pastoral and farmer Field Schools.
- At least recent experience in anticipatory action programming, knowledge of CA anticipatory action projects, including resilient livelihoods and humanitarian initiatives.
- Experience of working with partners and stakeholders including Government, private sector and development agencies.
- Proven ability in promoting and collaborating closely with multi-level stakeholders.
- Experience in developing activities to support the improvement of agricultural and other climate adaptation approaches in Zimbabwe.
- Familiarity with programme cycle management approaches and tools.
- Excellent verbal and written English and IsiNdebele languages.
Desirable: - Understanding of issues of Anticipatory Action programming, Resilience, Markets and advocacy.
- Understanding of partnership approach to international development.
- Training and workshop facilitation experience.
