Job Summary

IWM Duxford attracts over 350,000 visitors each year. The branch charges an admission entry fee and manages the arrival of all visitors and groups, including the thousands of visitors we welcome to our weekend Air Shows in May, July and September.

Admissions: The key roles and functions are focused on welcome and commercial Income capture. This includes providing an excellent visitor welcome; information about Duxford; entry ticket sales, Gift Aid and guidebook sales. We expect admission staff to cross sell products like Membership.

Retail: The key roles and functions for Retail are focused on product knowledge, sales drive, team working and customer service. IWM Duxford has one permanent shop situated in the admissions area as well as various pop-up shops for special events and Air Shows.

Key duties
You will be expected to work independently as well as across different teams in order to contribute to and deliver the priorities of IWM - using your knowledge, skills, talent and potential to the best of your ability.

You will focus at all times on delivering excellent customer service, ensure value for money at all times while being professional, courteous and demonstrating the behaviours and attributes expected of all IWM employees. You will also adhere to all corporate standards, and use corporate systems as directed to ensure consistency of service, brand and operational standards.

You will be expected to work across departments effectively, working with individuals, partners and where appropriate volunteers.

To identify and implement learning and development needs for both yourself and your team, including volunteers, if appropriate.

In addition, your duties will include:

▪ To welcome and positively engage with every visitor to the museum, at any and every point of their visit, consistently delivering the highest standards of customer service at all times.
▪ To develop a strong knowledge of IWM, its collection and the local area in order to provide visitors with a professional and knowledgeable response to their enquiries and a memorable visit.
▪ To actively sell IWM’s Guidebooks and related offers at the museum’s entrance from our admissions desk and as an additional sale in our shops.
