Transport Operations Supervisor
Cornwall Hospice Care is seeking a proactive and motivated Transport Operations Supervisor to join our team.
As the Transport Operations Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day running of our charity’s transport and logistics operations. You will lead a committed team of drivers and volunteers to ensure the smooth, safe, and timely movement of donated stock across our retail network.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
- Coordinate daily transport schedules and vehicle allocations
- Plan efficient routes and oversee real-time performance
- Liaise with internal departments to ensure service needs are met
Team Management
- Lead and motivate a mixed workforce of paid drivers and volunteers
- Conduct team briefings, monitor performance, and provide feedback
- Promote an inclusive and supportive working environment, actively promoting volunteering
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure all transport operations meet regulatory and safety standards
- Oversee vehicle inspections and maintenance schedules
- Promote a culture of safety and compliance throughout the team, both externally and within the warehouse and goods-in bay.

Administration & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of transport activity and compliance
- Ensure adherence to GDPR and data protection regulations
- Maintain good stock control practices and procedures.
- Supervisory experience in a transport or logistics environment
- Strong leadership and team development skills
- In-depth understanding of driver regulations and transport compliance
- Organised and calm under pressureCornwall Hospice Care Family & Friends Feedback.
- Effective communicator with both internal teams and external partners
- Basic fleet management and vehicle safety knowledge
Desirable:- Full UK driving licence
- Experience working in a charitable or volunteer-led setting
- Familiarity with vehicle tracking or transport management systems
- Forklift Licence
