The Opportunity
Do you love cooking and want to share your skills with young people? We’re looking for Sessional Youth Workers – Training Kitchen to join our team at Base71 Youth Zone, opening in 2026.
You’ll deliver fun, hands-on cooking sessions where young people learn essential skills – from preparing simple meals to creating dishes that celebrate different cultures. Alongside teaching kitchen safety, hygiene, and budgeting, you’ll inspire young people to make healthier choices and build confidence in the kitchen.
What you’ll do:
- Run safe, creative, and engaging cooking sessions for ages 8–19 (or up to 25 with SEND).
- Teach cooking basics, healthy eating, food hygiene, and budgeting.
- Plan exciting sessions with recipes that cater for different cultures and dietary needs.
- Motivate and support young people to try new skills and explore food.
- Create a welcoming environment that builds confidence and inclusion.
What you’ll bring:

Level 2 Food Hygiene qualification (essential).

Experience working with young people, ideally delivering cooking sessions.

Creativity and confidence to plan fun, varied activities.

Energy, patience, and a passion for helping young people grow.

Knowledge of safeguarding, health & safety, and inclusion (training provided).
