The Mission Enabler will work with the Minister and members of Wesley Methodist Church to deliver, develop and grow the mission of the church. They will work with church volunteers to oversee and deliver outreach projects in the community, reach out to new people and enable the growth and discipleship of current and new volunteers and new members.
Aim of project:
To grow the church and improve our outreach in the community
Objectives:
Volunteers will feel more confident in talking about and sharing their faith
We will have a coordinated mission plan
We will have an improved pastoral system, welcoming and involving people
We will have flourishing groups that are well used by the local community
Gaps in our provision and outreach will be identified and new initiatives created to fill them
Volunteers, both existing and new, will be encouraged to grow and develop their skills.
Main responsibilities:
Working with existing groups, to:
Develop skills in sharing faith in existing and new volunteers;
Build relationships with those attending groups who are new to church and faith;
Work with the volunteer team to further develop the groups.
Taking a lead role in developing and growing the church’s ongoing mission strategy by:
Developing new areas of work to grow our mission and outreach;
Effectively leading team meetings;
Working with the Minister and Vision Group to prayerfully plan for the future and ensure our work and activities are co-ordinated and effective;
Building relationships with appropriate local partners.
Supporting the pastoral work of the church, by:
Linking up with existing systems of developing membership;
Working with existing pastoral volunteers to ensure all visitors to services and groups feel welcome and included.
Attending church services at least once a month
Terms and conditions:
Terms of appointment: Fixed term contract for 3 years (subject to fixed term funding)
The salary/rate of pay will be: £15,000 per annum
Normal working pattern: 20 hours per week, to be worked flexibly
All reasonable expenses will be reimbursed and opportunities are available for ongoing training.
Note you will not be expected to use a car for this job.
There is a contributory pension scheme to which eligible lay employees will be auto-enrolled. Lay employees who do not meet the auto-enrolment criteria are eligible to join the scheme subject to certain provisions.
20 days annual leave entitlement per year (pro-rata for part-time employees), plus statutory bank holidays.
At least one day free of responsibility per week.
Appointment will be subject to a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) disclosure.
Appointment will be subject to satisfactory references.
Appointment will be subject to the satisfactory completion of up to six-month probationary period.
There is an occupational requirement for the post-holder to be a practising Christian, in accordance with the Equality Act 2010.
