Reporting to  Business and Finance Lead for Education

The Role

To develop, implement monitor and review the Colleges budgeting, financial management and cost: models, systems, procedures, and controls for the College, to ensure all financial information is managed recorded and reported accurately including internal money stream e.g., Café and print enterprise

 Key responsibilities ;

  • Provide information, advice and support to the Principal, SLT, and Governors regarding strategic development of the Colleges business activity, to ensure the best possible learning environment for students.
  • Advise, support, facilitate and implement the external and internal audit arrangements as required by financial regulations and other funding bodies.
  • Prepare and submit regular and statutory financial statements and reports.
  • Prepare, review and monitor the annual budget and monthly management accounts, working with budget holders to ensure compliance.
  • Prepare, review, monitor and report on monthly management accounts and financial returns as required by the Trusts Governing body, Local Authorities and EFA
  • Management and control of all Bursary and other statutory Funding streams to include monitoring, review, reporting and preparation for internal and external requirements.
  • Develop, maintain, monitor and review the financial and management accounting systems, procedures and controls for the College, to ensure financial transactions are recorded and reported accurately to manage the College sales, purchases, sponsorship, lettings and other business activities.
  • Work with the Principal and Business and Finance Lead for Education to develop, monitor and review the colleges 4-year budget plan.
  • Secure and develop funding streams which will enable a diverse range of students to access a range of innovative learning experiences at Bridge College
  • Provide regular and timely reports to the Principal pertaining to areas of responsibility.

 About You

  • A degree or relevant professional qualification in a financial/ accountancy related field.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development
  • Relevant finance/ accountancy professional body.
  • Growing and developing processes for student recruitment.
  • Experience of conducting a range of data analysis utilising outcomes to determine priorities.
  • Financial management Costing & audit to include Budget /cost centre management / statutory accounting / Cost models preferably within the Charity sector.
  • Experience of commissioning.
  • Experience of managing information systems (MIS).
  • Knowledge of budgets and the need to provide effective audit process.
  • Knowledge of financial costing principals and development of appropriate cost models.
  • Commercial Awareness
  • Good influencing, communication, negotiation skills.
