As an HLTA, your responsibilities would include:

  • Working as a member of a team providing learning support assistance to the pupils of the school.
  • Establish productive working relationship with pupils and teachers, acting as a role model and setting high expectations.
  • Providing in class support for identified pupils to enable them to access the curriculum and make progress against targets including supporting the development of skills in literacy, numeracy, communication and social and behavioural needs.
  • Ensure a first-class standard of teaching by adapting class/ group learning activities for SEND pupils and adjusting activities according to pupil responses/needs.
  • Undertake planning and teaching sessions for small learning support groups.

  • Educated up to A- Level or equivalent (essential)
  • Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) Qualification Level 4 (essential)
  • Previous experience working in a school or with young people (essential)
  • Mathematics support experience (desirable)
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written (essential)
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy (essential)
