We are an independent local charity based in Bosham, Chichester offering a wide range of services to support our patients, and their loved ones, who are living with a life limiting or terminal illness. The work we do makes a real difference to the lives of local people and we support over 330 patients at any one time between our In Patient Unit and Community teams.

Being a Bank Van Driver at St Wilfrid’s

We are seeking a reliable and motivated individual to join our busy Retail Team as a Bank (casual hours) Van Driver. This role plays a key part in supporting the fundraising activity that enables our hospice care.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Transporting items to and from the distribution centre, shops, recycling centres, our Hospice and private addresses, as required
  • Collecting and delivering items to and from our supporters (usually donations of furniture, clothing & bric a brac), including loading and unloading goods in a safe, timely and professional manner.
  • Completing all paperwork associated with deliveries including gift aid, collections and delivery procedures, vehicle checks as required
  • Ensuring the van is fuelled, clean and serviceable in accordance with agreed procedures
  • Providing excellent customer service to supporters, donors and members of the public.
  • Weekend and Bank holiday work are required on occasion to support the 7 day/week retail operation
  • You will be required to work a full shift on your scheduled working days.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A full, clean UK driving licence (essential)
  • Previous professional driving experience (desirable)
  • Experience handling bulky or heavy items safely; two-person lifting is required
  • Knowledge or interest in charity retail (desirable)
  • Right to work in the UK

A good level of physical fitness will help you perform manual handling duties safely and effectively.
