Teaching Vacancies

Head of Learning Support Centre and SENCo

Head of Learning Support Centre and SENCo
From January 2026
Closing date: Noon, 29th October

Millfield is seeking a dynamic Head of Learning Support Centre (LSC) and SENCo to lead our innovative, CReSTeD-accredited department at the heart of the school. The LSC supports students with Additional Educational Needs (AEN), most commonly Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD), and is staffed by a skilled team of teachers, tutors, and specialists.

The LSC provides specialist teaching and support for students from Years 9–U6 through timetabled Study Support lessons. It also offers guidance and training for teachers across the school to ensure all students with AEN can thrive in their classrooms.

As Head of LSC, you will lead the department strategically, overseeing the Brilliance Curriculum, staffing, budgets, resources, and teaching standards. You will monitor student progress, support staff development, manage timetables, and contribute to wider school initiatives.

As SENCo, you will manage the AEN register, assessment processes, exam access arrangements, and EHCP provision, liaising with parents, staff, external agencies, and Local Authorities. You will also support student transitions and ensure continuity of provision with the Prep School.

The ideal candidate will hold a current practising certificate in assessing specific learning difficulties issued by a relevant professional association, such as PATOSS, Dyslexia Action, or the British Dyslexia Association, or an equivalent qualification to undertake full diagnostic assessment for specific learning difficulties. They will have experience assessing secondary-level pupils for Additional Educational Needs and exam access arrangements, interpreting diagnostic reports, and hold a post-graduate SpLD Level 7 qualification or equivalent.

This is an outstanding opportunity to join a collaborative and forward-thinking school community and to make a significant contribution to the academic and personal success of our students.

**Please note that applications will be considered on receipt, and as a result the vacancy may close early should an appointment be made. As such we would recommend submitting your application as soon as possible**
