Location of the post: Hinckley, Leicestershire.

Jarvis House, our beautiful new Emotional Well-being Assessment home in Hinkley supports children & young people aged between 8-18 providing short term placements until their needs are fully appraised and understood. The service provides up to 3 service users at any one-time opportunities to enjoy different experiences, establish friendships and develop confidence, independence and social/emotional skills.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Leading and managing a team of residential support workers, including coordinating staffing rotas to ensure consistent, high-quality care.
  • Collaborating with the Local Authority to support effective matching and placement of young people.
  • Creating a positive culture and ethos that meets the complex needs of the children and young people.
  • Quality assuring transition plans to ensure they are ambitious and tailored to help children achieve their full potential.
  • Facilitating regular team meetings to share information, support practice development, and escalate issues to the management team for resolution.
  • Representing the service at formal meetings, including acting on behalf of the Children's Services Manager when required.
  • Participating in on-call duties, rota cover, and out-of-hours support as needed.
  • Supporting the mobilisation of the home, including recruitment and onboarding of staff.

Essential Requirements:

To be considered for this role, your application must demonstrate:

  • A valid UK driver's licence.
  • A Level 3 qualification relevant to Residential Childcare.
  • A Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health & Social Care and Children & Young People's Services,ora willingness to work towards it.
  • At least 3 years' experience working with children (within the last 5 years), including a minimum of 1 year in a senior supervisory or management role within a residential setting.
  • Strong knowledge and experience of OFSTED Regulations and Quality Standards for Children's Homes, with the ability to drive the service towards an “Outstanding” rating.
  • Proven ability in safeguarding practices, including accurate recording and reporting to protect children and young people.

About the Service:

Barnardo's, the UK's largest children's charity, is proud to be working in partnership with Leicestershire County Council on an innovative journey to deliver a range of children's homes for the most vulnerable children and young people in the region.

While this home will be your primary base, flexibility to travel across Leicestershire to support other homes may be required from time to time.
