The Vacancy
Islamic Relief Worldwide (IRW) is a faith-based humanitarian relief and development organisation working to save and transform the lives of some of the world’s most vulnerable people. Established in 1984, with an active presence in over 45 countries, we strive to make the world a better and fairer place for those affected by poverty, conflict and natural disasters.
IRW’s Global Family Development Division is recruiting for the position of ‘Head of Digital’, open only to existing Islamic Relief employees in the UK. The role is to be based from it's Birmingham office, UK.
Purpose of the role:
The Head of Digital is responsible for strategically and sustainably expanding the development of the IR family globally through the development and management of all digital infrastructure under the management of the GFD Division, including websites, CRM systems, some social media platforms and custom developed platforms that support digital activities across fundraising, advocacy and marketing.
The role holder is also responsible to develop a digital strategy that drives the growth of Islamic Relief in new territories through a digital first approach as well as provides clarity to the various parts of the Islamic Relief Family of roles and responsibilities. They will also be required to complete the evaluation of each new digital venture to ensure it is growing with the end vision of positively contributing to IR family projects in the field. The post holder will work closely with internal and external partners to review all aspects of IR Office developments and their delivery. The aim of this post holder is to strategies, plan, manage and deliver on the growth of all new digital outlets available to IR partner offices, while at the same time supporting exiting offices that require help in order to continue to grow.
The successful candidate must have:
- Significant experience in a digital infrastructure, content or marketing role(s), ideally within the INGO sector
- Experience of managing, overseeing, guiding and coordinating the work of others
- Proven track record as a project manager, operating within a team with budgetary responsibility and delivering results across a range of activities
- Experience of managing, building, guiding, training and influencing teams to work collaboratively to a high standard
- Experience of working with multiple stakeholders, within an environment of competing deadlines
- Experience of using digital advertising platforms such as Google Adwords or Meta Business Suite
- Significant experience in managing the development of digital infrastructure
- Significant experience in managing external contracts
- Understanding of the range of audiences that Islamic Relief wants to communicate with
- Demonstrates and continuously develops knowledge of the latest digital technology and trends
- Exceptional relationship-building skills; the ability to establish effective working relationships with people of all working styles and backgrounds
- Strong consultation, listening and influencing skills
- Strong team-working and interpersonal skills
- Strong service delivery mindset
- Experience of managing multiple stakeholder demands concurrently
- Able to work across different cultures, with personalities who face competing demands.
- Results focused; able to plan, co-ordinate and deliver on objectives and targets with a positive drive to achieve results
- Sound financial and resource management skills that ensure that goals can be achieved within budgetary constraints
- Ability to manage team that work effectively under pressure to tight deadlines and balance competing priorities
- Excellent planning and organisational skills, and the ability to prioritise the team’s work
